If you own a BlueTooth or Infrared compatible
mobile phone, then this program is for you. The IA Phone ManagerTM offers
a powerful and easy-to-use interface between Pocket Outlook Contacts and mobile
phones that use the GSM (Global System for Mobiles) protocol. This means you
can import and export mobile phone contact information to and from Contacts
on your PAC Mate and PC. In addition, you can dial your phone directly from
your PAC Mate.
Note: In order to use a BlueTooth mobile phone with
IA Phone Manager, you must have Bluetooth Manager installed on your PAC Mate.
BlueTooth Manager is available in the BlueTooth Connection Kit.
The online help that comes with IA Phone Manager is very comprehensive and
easily explains all features of this program. To open IA Phone Manager Help,
open the program, press F4 and select Help from the Start Menu.
Installing IA Phone Manager
Ensure that ActiveSync is installed on your desktop computer, and that the
PAC Mate is connected to your computer with either a standard or guest partnership.
On your PC, go to www.iastyle.com to download
the IA Phone Manager software for Pocket PC.
Connecting to BlueTooth
Note:This topic assumes that you have a BlueTooth compatible
phone, you have properly installed the BlueTooth Manager and you have properly
selected the port settings in this program.
- Open IA Phone Manager from the Programs submenu.
- Press F2 and select Options from the Tools Menu.
- Press DOTS 5-6 CHORD to move to the Port Setting page of the Options
dialog and select COM 8 in the Connecting Port field.
- Press DOT 8 to establish a Bluetooth connection with IA Phone Manager.
Connecting with Infrared
- Open IA Phone Manager from the Programs submenu.
- Press F2 and select Options from the Tools Menu.
- Press DOTS 5-6 CHORD to move to the Port Setting page of the Options
dialog and select IrDA in the Connecting Port field.
- Position the PAC Mate IrDA port in line and a few inches from the mobile
phone IrDA port.
- Press DOT 8 to establish an infrared connection with IA Phone Manager.
Importing and Exporting Contacts
With this feature your contacts are always up-to-date as this copies all your
contact entries to and from your IA Phone Manager PhoneBook.
- In IA Phone Manager, press F2 and select PhoneBook.
- From the PhoneBook menu select Import from Contacts or Export to Contacts.
- Within this dialog use the arrow keys to specify a category and destination.
- Press DOTS 4-5 CHORD to move to the Select All check box. Press the
SPACEBAR if you want to import or export all contacts.
- To only import or export individual contacts, press DOTS 4-5 CHORD
to move to the list of contacts and check the associated check box.
- When you are done, move to and press DOT 8 on the Import or Export
button.
- On the Export dialog there is a "Stored Column Manually" checkbox.
Placing a check in this box opens a dialog, in which you can specify a column
where that individual entry should be stored when exported.
Backing Up Phone Data
You can save your phone data to compact flash or a folder on PAC Mate.
- Establish a connection between your mobile phone and your PAC Mate via Infrared
or Bluetooth.
- Press F2, select PhoneBook and press DOT 8 on the Sync with
phone menu item.
- In the Rule for Synchronization combo box, use the UP or DOWN
ARROW to select Download from Phone to download all the phone data from
your mobile phone.
- Move to and press DOT 8 on the Synchronize button.
- Next, press F2, select Tools and press DOT 8 on Project. From
the Project submenu, select Save As.
- In the Save As dialog, you can change the Phonebook Name, Folder, and/or
Location as desired.
- Last, press DOT 8 so that the phone data will be saved to the name
and place you specified.
Sorting Phone Numbers and Messages
For convenience, you can sort your phone numbers and messages in the list view
by ascending or descending order. The command to use is SH CHORD, S.
